Regional businesses are navigating a period of significant change. New industry investment, workforce demands, regulatory requirements and emerging procurement opportunities are creating both challenges and opportunities for businesses across Port Pirie and the surrounding region. As demand for support continues to grow, local businesses need access to practical guidance, connections and advocacy to help them adapt and thrive.
To respond to this need, the Business Port Pirie is expanding its Business Manager role through a two year project running from July 2026 to June 2028. The role serves as a dedicated connector across the regional business community, helping businesses access support, build networks, engage with local buying opportunities and prepare for future economic growth. The project will also strengthen collaboration between industry, government and community stakeholders while supporting workforce development and business capability initiatives.
The Local Buying Foundation is supporting the project through its Innovation, Skills and Business Development funding category, recognising the role’s contribution to building business capability, strengthening regional economic resilience and helping local businesses participate in future opportunities.
This investment builds on previous Local Buying Foundation support for the Business Manager role, which has been funded since 2023. The continuation and expansion of the role reflects the value it has delivered to the local business community and the growing demand for dedicated business support services. By strengthening connections, increasing engagement and creating pathways for growth, the project aims to leave the region better positioned to respond to future opportunities and challenges.
