A new initiative led by Regional Development Australia Greater Whitsunday (RDAGW) is helping progress diversity, inclusion and safer, more productive workplaces across the region. With support from the Local Buying Foundation, the program focuses on engaging men as allies to foster inclusive leadership and culture in small to medium enterprises.
The initiative provides facilitated allyship workshops that guide participants through practical tools and conversations. These sessions are designed to help leaders and teams understand the value of inclusive behaviours and how to apply them in everyday workplace settings.
Employers participating in the program are encouraged to make clear commitments to inclusive practices. This includes adopting measurable behaviours that promote equity and respect, helping to create environments where all employees feel valued and supported.
To ensure lasting impact, follow‑up support is offered to help embed inclusive practices into workplace culture. This ongoing engagement helps teams maintain momentum and continue building on the foundations established during the workshops.
Inclusive leadership and culture are essential for attracting and retaining talent, improving safety and driving performance. By supporting evidence‑based engagement, the Local Buying Foundation is helping SMEs build stronger teams and better outcomes aligned with its commitment to sustainable regional development.
