We are seeking candidates who will help guide the Local Buying Foundation’s investment in regional business communities.

To ensure Foundation funding opportunities target genuine local business and community needs, Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committees (LBFAC) have been established within the regional footprints that the BHP Local Buying Program and Local Buying Foundation operate. Each of the four Foundations are registered through ACNC and hold an individual ABN.

The Advisory Committees are a representative body of key stakeholder organisations, local council representatives, community representatives and independent members that have a direct or indirect interest in regional economic development and collectively bring a diversity of skills, expertise and experience.

To ensure the Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committee remains closely connected to the communities it serves, members are required to live or work in the regions where the Foundation operates. This local presence enables committee members to bring genuine insight into regional opportunities and challenges, represent the interests of local businesses and stakeholders, and make informed decisions that reflect the unique needs and aspirations of each area.

As an advisory committee member, you will have several responsibilities, such as:

  •  Attend two meetings per year, via Microsoft Teams Teleconference.
  • Assess and recommend for approval projects, programs and initiatives by commenting on the objectives, deliverables and impact of funding applications in alignment with LBF intent.
  • Represent the broad range of needs and interests of the business and provide brief updates during committee meetings of current and emerging issues and trends within the community and the local business environment.
  • Advocate for the LBF within communities and networks.
  • Attend LBF supported events where possible.

Ideal committee members will demonstrate:
  • Integrity and sound judgement
Uphold confidentiality, declare conflicts of interest, and contribute to transparent decision making.
  • Collaboration and respect
Work constructively with diverse stakeholders and value a range of perspectives.
  • Practical experience
Assess proposals, understand risk, value and focus on outcomes that benefit local businesses.
  • Commitment and reliability
Prepare for meetings, participate actively and respond promptly to committee matters.
  • Community connection
Bring strong networks across industry, government and community organisations to advocate for small, local and Indigenous businesses.

If you are passionate about supporting regional economic growth and can offer these qualities, we encourage you to submit your EOI.
