The Local Buying Foundation is proud to announce funding for the HORIZON – Uplifting Regional Female Leaders Program, delivered by First Nations X Ltd and designed to elevate the leadership and entrepreneurial capacity of Indigenous women across regional Queensland.

This initiative builds on the success of the 2024 pilot program in Western Australia, which saw strong engagement and lasting impact. The Queensland rollout will focus on the Mackay and Isaac regions, with a mix of intensive workshops and tailored mentoring sessions to for women (the majority of whom identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander).

The Program offers intensive workshops and three one-hour mentoring sessions delivered by experienced leaders and entrepreneurs. Culturally safe and co-designed content will be delivered, addressing the unique challenges faced by Indigenous women in leadership, such as balancing cultural and family responsibilities, limited access to networks, and resource constraints.

The program is grounded in principles of self-determination, community-led innovation, and inclusive economic development. It aims to foster confidence, strategic thinking, and practical skills that participants can apply within their communities and industries.

Supporting Indigenous women in regional areas is not just about leadership—it’s about unlocking potential, strengthening communities, and creating pathways for sustainable growth. As highlighted in the program’s kick-off meeting, LBF’s investment reflects its broader commitment to workforce development, regional capability, and inclusive participation.

The Horizon program is a powerful example of how targeted support can uplift voices, build resilience, and drive meaningful change. We look forward to following the journey of these emerging leaders and celebrating their achievements.
