Greater Whitsunday Innovation (GWI) will be delivering two transformative initiatives sponsored by the Local Buying Foundation (LBF): a three-part AI for Business workshop series and the second Tech Verge Summit, scheduled for 28–29 May 2026. These initiatives aim to empower local businesses and community organisations with practical knowledge and tools to harness emerging technologies, fostering resilience and competitiveness across the region.
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly reshaping industries worldwide, and regional businesses have a unique opportunity to leverage these advancements to remain competitive and innovative. Through these workshops and the Tech Verge Summit, participants will gain hands-on insights into practical AI applications, explore strategies for integrating technology into operations, and learn how to adapt to a changing digital landscape. The Summit will bring together thought leaders, innovators, and local enterprises to share ideas, showcase success stories, and build collaborative networks that strengthen the region’s economic future.
Tech Verge 2026, themed “Tech for Good”, will be held at Ocean International, Mackay, on 28–29 May 2026 from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM daily. Aligned with Queensland Small Business Month, the event will spotlight emerging technology solutions that create positive change across key sectors. Attendees can expect keynote speakers sharing insights on technology-driven transformation, interactive workshops designed for practical learning, a tech showcase featuring innovative solutions, and high-impact networking sessions to connect businesses and innovators. The event will also be live streamed to reach wider regional audiences and will include targeted student participation to build future workforce pathways.
The AI for Business workshop series will consist of three practical sessions, each lasting two hours, delivered throughout FY25/26. These sessions will introduce local businesses to accessible AI tools that support workflow automation, efficiency improvements, and time-saving strategies. By demystifying AI and providing actionable insights, these workshops will help businesses integrate technology effectively and boost productivity.
This initiative supports projects that promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and community engagement. By focusing on AI education and innovation, the project aligns strongly with the Foundation’s intent to create sustainable opportunities, enhance regional capability, and drive long-term economic growth. It reflects LBF’s commitment to supporting projects that not only deliver immediate benefits but also position local businesses for success in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
Together, Tech Verge 2026 and the AI workshop series aim to build digital capability, support innovation adoption, and connect businesses across Mackay and wider regional areas. The Local Buying Foundation is excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on the region and encourages businesses and community organisations to take advantage of this opportunity to learn, connect, and innovate.
