Port Hedland came alive on 12 November as the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the 2025 Hedland Economic Forum at Wanangkura Stadium. This year’s event was the biggest yet, drawing hundreds of business leaders, government representatives and industry experts to explore opportunities shaping the region’s economic future.
The forum featured a packed program of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and networking sessions, offering insights into emerging trends across mining, energy and local industries. Attendees gained valuable updates on procurement pathways, sustainability initiatives and strategies to strengthen regional supply chains.
The energy in the room was palpable as exhibitors showcased innovative solutions and local businesses shared success stories. A standout moment was Hedland’s Big Pitch 2025, where three finalists—Candid Captures by AJ Downes, Gurukarri & Mulga and Prime First Aid Training, presented their ideas to an engaged audience. Prime First Aid Training, led by Emily and Robbie Peck, took home the $20,000 prize cheque, marking a significant milestone for small business innovation in the Pilbara.
The forum underscored the importance of collaboration between major industry players and local enterprises. Principal event partner BHP Western Australia played a key role in supporting the event, alongside other sponsors who helped create a platform for meaningful dialogue and connection. The Welcome Sundowner set the tone for two days of networking and knowledge-sharing, reinforcing the forum’s reputation as a cornerstone of regional business development.
The Hedland Economic Forum is more than an annual event. It is a catalyst for growth, resilience and innovation in the Pilbara. By bringing together diverse voices and perspectives, the forum equips businesses with the tools and partnerships needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving economic landscape. With strong feedback from participants and record attendance, the 2025 forum signals a bright future for Hedland and its business community.
