Tactic is an independent, member‑driven organisation that has spent more than twenty years connecting local supplier capability with major project proponents. Grown from the communities it serves, Tactic has built deep and trusted relationships with businesses, industry and government across the Upper Spencer Gulf and beyond. Its strength lies in supply chain integrity, regional intelligence and its ability to bring the right people together at the right time.
Since 2022, funding from the Local Buying Foundation has supported the Industry Engagement Officer role, enabling Tactic to expand its on‑ground presence and deliver meaningful outcomes for both buyers and suppliers. The role has become a reliable and respected point of contact for local businesses, major projects and industry stakeholders across Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula.
The impact of this role has been significant. Through regular engagement, tailored advice and trusted connections, local businesses have gained clearer visibility of project opportunities, improved understanding of procurement expectations and greater confidence to participate in supply chains. At the same time, project proponents and government have benefited from accurate regional insights and well‑informed industry intelligence.
As demand for this service continues to grow, Tactic is transitioning the role into a new position titled Industry Stakeholder Lead. This evolution reflects a stronger focus on capability‑building and responsive, on‑ground support for small businesses across the region.
The new role will deliver a structured outreach program, with regular visits to businesses to listen, understand priorities and respond with practical support. This includes connecting businesses with relevant support services, networks and project proponents, as well as creating a clear feedback loop that informs future activities and advocacy.
Aligned with the Local Buying Foundation’s focus on building capacity and resilience, the Industry Stakeholder Lead role will help strengthen business knowledge, planning capability and readiness to tender. Over time, this will support stronger local procurement outcomes, increased competitiveness of regional businesses and long‑term economic benefits for communities.
Success will be measured not just by the number of businesses engaged, but by the strength of relationships built and the outcomes delivered. Ultimately, this project aims to ensure regional businesses are more capable, connected and confident to contribute to thriving local economies.
