Business Port Pirie is strengthening support for small businesses across Port Pirie and the surrounding region through its Business Manager Development Project, backed by funding from the Local Buying Foundation. The project will run through to June 2028 and aims to build a more connected, capable and resilient Port Pirie business community.
Small businesses are at the heart of the local economy, creating jobs, supporting local supply chains and contributing to regional growth. Business Port Pirie’s Business Manager plays an important role in connecting businesses with information, training, networks and opportunities while promoting initiatives and advocating for the needs of the business community.
As the region responds to new industry developments and emerging economic opportunities, demand for business support continues to grow. Local businesses are seeking greater assistance to navigate workforce challenges, rising operating costs and changing regulatory requirements, creating a need for increased capacity and continuity within the Business Manager role.
The project will enable Business Port Pirie to expand its support for local businesses through business engagement activities, networking and capability-building opportunities, advocacy and collaboration with key regional stakeholders. It will also strengthen local buying initiatives and help businesses access the information, connections and support they need to grow and succeed.
A key focus will be supporting the long-term sustainability and resilience of the regional business community. Planned activities include direct business engagement, business-focused events and workshops, industry collaboration and initiatives designed to attract and engage young professionals and future business leaders.
By strengthening a dedicated role focused on local business success, the project will help ensure Port Pirie’s business community is well positioned to respond to future opportunities, support local procurement and contribute to a thriving regional economy.
