Small business owners from Roxby Downs, Andamooka, Coober Pedy, Hawker and surrounding South Australian communities have strengthened their digital skills through the Growing Your Brand with Social Media and Digital for Business Success workshops.
Delivered through two hands‑on Canva workshops, the project focused on building digital literacy and practical capability for early stage and established small to medium enterprises. The sessions were tailored to the needs of registered participants and designed to help businesses confidently use digital tools to grow, promote their brand and take advantage of new opportunities.
The workshops form part of a broader outcomes‑focused program that combines practical learning with follow‑up support. Participants will have access to individual one‑to‑one mentoring sessions through existing RDA Far North programs.
Research consistently shows that digitally engaged businesses perform better, with stronger productivity, revenue growth and customer engagement. At the same time, many Far North businesses face barriers to digital uptake due to time constraints, limited resources and low digital confidence. These workshops directly addressed those challenges while also reinforcing safe online practices, building on previous programs focused on cyber safety.
The initiative aligns with South Australia’s Small Business Strategy, particularly the focus on navigating the digital environment. By delivering accessible, locally relevant support, the program is helping regional businesses build confidence, capability and resilience in an increasingly digital economy.
One participant described the experience as highly practical and engaging, saying: “Absolutely, very helpful, lots of examples, loved the hands on learning, handout notes a great idea, awesome to be able to ask questions.”
The Local Buying Foundation is proud to support initiatives that strengthen regional businesses and create long‑term capability across SA’s Far North communities.
