Emerging artists and makers in Port Hedland are being supported to turn their creative practice into sustainable businesses through the Creative Enterprise Mentoring Program.
Delivered by Courthouse Gallery+Studio, the program is helping participants build the skills, confidence and networks needed to grow viable creative micro-businesses across the Local Buying Foundation eligible region.
The structured program combines one-to-one mentoring with practical workshops focused on key business skills. Participants receive tailored support in pricing, product development, branding, financial literacy and market positioning, helping them strengthen both their creative practice and commercial capability.
By focusing on real-world outcomes, the program is designed to help creatives generate income, access retail and wholesale opportunities and participate more confidently in regional markets.
Participants are selected through an open Expression of Interest process, ensuring fair access across the region. The program will culminate in a professionally presented public exhibition and retail showcase, creating immediate opportunities for sales while increasing the visibility of local creative enterprises.
The expected outcomes go beyond the exhibition. Participants will gain stronger business confidence, improved financial literacy and market-ready products, alongside more connected regional networks.
By embedding enterprise skills alongside artistic development, the program is supporting creatives to operate as sustainable small businesses. This not only benefits individual participants, but also strengthens the broader regional economy by diversifying industries and creating new pathways for long-term economic participation in the creative sector.
Through mentoring, visibility and practical support, the initiative is helping build a more resilient and connected creative business community.
