The Local Buying Foundation is proud to support Mackay Isaac Tourism through Isaac Tourism Development, a strategic initiative aimed at growing and diversifying the region’s tourism offering. This project plays a vital role in strengthening the local economy and creating new opportunities for small businesses across the Isaac region.

The project continues to deliver strong outcomes. The ‘Free Spirit’ drive campaign, launched earlier this year, has been a standout success, achieving over 5.9 million impressions and inspiring travellers to explore the unique itineraries and experiences the Isaac region has to offer. Mackay Isaac Tourism is also preparing for its 2026 events campaign, which will build on this momentum and showcase the region’s best events and attractions.

In addition to marketing efforts, the project has leveraged partnerships with Tourism and Events Queensland through initiatives like the Holiday Highway campaign, ensuring Isaac’s coastal and inland operators are front and centre in statewide tourism promotions. Training programs such as Queensland Welcomes You have also been supported, helping local businesses deliver exceptional visitor experiences.

This project was funded under the Industry Development and Economic Growth category, which supports initiatives that strengthen regional industries and create sustainable economic opportunities. The Isaac Tourism Development project aligns closely with the Local Buying Foundation’s intent to foster resilient local economies by enhancing tourism infrastructure, building capability, and driving increased visitation. By supporting this initiative, LBF is helping to create a thriving environment for small businesses and communities across the Isaac region.

These achievements reflect the commitment to the project’s key performance indicators, including growing tourism products, strengthening strategic partnerships, and creating an environment for future investment. With continued progress, the Isaac region is well positioned to attract more visitors, increase overnight stays, and boost local spending.
