Funding Approved for continuation of Isaac Tourism Development Officer funded Role

30 Sep,2023

The Queensland Local Buying Foundation has approved funding under the Industry Promotion and Economic Development category to partner with Mackay Isaac Tourism (MIT), in continuation of the Isaac Tourism Development Officer role. This three-year funding approval, from March 2023 to February 2026, is part of the broader Local Buying Foundation Bridging the Boundaries initiative providing funding for economic development positions across Australia.

The Isaac Tourism Development Officer role, first introduced in 2020, has played a key part in growing the Isaac region’s tourism industry, helping to diversify the local economy and boost the income of small businesses. The role focuses on expanding the Isaac region’s tourism offerings, creating new investment opportunities, and fostering partnerships with government bodies and tourism agencies.

Over the next three years, the Isaac Tourism Development Officer will continue to engage with local businesses, support event development, and promote Isaac’s unique experiences to both domestic and global audiences. The role aims to develop a sustainable tourism industry by supporting small businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors, all while strengthening Isaac’s position as a destination of choice.

Key priorities include implementing the Mackay Isaac Tourism Destination Plan 2023-2025, guiding the development of tourism products, and advocating for local businesses. By building strong strategic partnerships and identifying future opportunities, this role will enhance Isaac’s tourism landscape and create a lasting impact on the region’s economy.
