Behind many successful regional communities are micro businesses and sole traders quietly keeping local economies moving. These businesses provide services, create local jobs and contribute to the character of their communities, yet their achievements can often go unrecognised compared to larger organisations.
Business Port Augusta is addressing this through the introduction of the Excellence in a Micro Business category at the 2025-26 Rowe Partners Port Augusta Outstanding Business Awards. The initiative will recognise businesses operated by one or two people, celebrating the innovation, commitment and resilience of some of the region’s smallest, yet most influential, businesses.
Supported through the Local Buying Foundation’s Sponsorship funding category, the project aligns with the commitment to strengthening regional business communities through initiatives that foster connection, capability and business confidence. By shining a spotlight on micro businesses, the awards help encourage entrepreneurship, celebrate local success and create opportunities for businesses to connect and learn from one another.
Business Port Augusta has previously received Local Buying Foundation support for business awards and other business engagement initiatives, reflecting a shared focus on supporting regional business growth. Through this year’s sponsorship, the organisation hopes to build a stronger culture of recognition across the Upper Spencer Gulf and ensure businesses of every size are encouraged to participate and succeed.
