The Summit 2024 – A Celebration of Indigenous Business Excellence

The Summit 2024, hosted by the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (NSWICC), brought together a vibrant mix of Indigenous businesses, government leaders, and industry representatives for two days of collaboration and celebration on Wonnarua Country in the Hunter Valley.

From November 11–12, the event featured a Business Tradeshow, a Knowledge Forum, and the prestigious Summit Awards & Gala Dinner. As a proud sponsor, the NSW Local Buying Foundation was honored to support the Summit.

The Tradeshow highlighted the diversity and strength of Indigenous businesses in NSW. Recruitment specialists, trade equipment suppliers, artists, winemakers, and more showcased their offerings, engaging with attendees from industries such as construction, mining, renewables, and infrastructure. The atmosphere was electric, with conversations sparking new opportunities and connections.

Darlene Flockhart, LBF Administrator, reflected on the event: “The Summit 2024 was an incredible opportunity to connect with Indigenous businesses from a wide range of industries, including recruitment, training, trade equipment, and the arts, and I was proud to be there as part of the Local Buying Foundation team in sponsorship of such a worthwhile event. The Trade Show, in particular, was a highlight, offering meaningful conversations about how the Foundation supports Indigenous businesses through the Local Buying Program.”

The Knowledge Forum on day two provided valuable insights into Indigenous procurement and highlighted success stories of businesses breaking new ground. Listening to these stories reinforced the importance of creating opportunities for Indigenous enterprises to thrive.

The Summit Awards & Gala Dinner was a powerful celebration of excellence. It was inspiring to hear the stories behind the nominees and winners and witness their dedication to advancing Indigenous business.

The NSW Local Buying Foundation are proud to announce sponsorship of the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce’s Summit 2024, under the Sponsorship of Business Awards, Conferences and Events funding category and as part of the LBF commitment to Indigenous Economic Development.

The Summit, previously known as the Indigenous Chamber Forum (ICF), is the premier annual event hosted by the NSWICC. Scheduled for November 11-12, 2024, at the scenic Wonnarua Country in the Hunter Valley, the Summit promises to be an unparalleled opportunity for government and industry leaders to engage with Indigenous businesses across various sectors, including infrastructure, construction, mining, and renewables.

Over the course of two days, the Summit will feature a dynamic Business Tradeshow, a Knowledge Forum with presentations from key industry experts, and culminate in the prestigious Summit Awards & Gala Dinner. Attendees will benefit from extensive networking opportunities, exposure to best practices in Indigenous procurement, and insights into successful case studies that highlight Indigenous business excellence.

Despite the growing number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses capable of serving diverse industries in NSW, spend with these suppliers has not reached its potential. The NSWICC aims to address this gap through the Summit by enhancing the capacity of both supply chains and procurement practices.
