The Queensland Local Buying Foundation has approved funding for the Resource Industry Network (RIN) to deliver the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Directors Course in Mackay and Moranbah. This project, falling under the Micro Business and SME Capacity-building funding category, aims to provide crucial governance training to SME’s in the region.
Traditionally held in Brisbane, this highly regarded course requires participants to travel and cover additional expenses, making it less accessible to regional businesses. By bringing the AICD course to Mackay and Moranbah, RIN is ensuring that local business leaders can gain valuable governance and decision-making skills without the financial burden of travel. The course will help SME directors and board members enhance their leadership, financial literacy, and risk management capabilities, ultimately fostering business growth and sustainability.
RIN’s feedback-driven approach and partnership with LBF will ensure the course is accessible to all businesses, not just those in the METS sector. This initiative will support regional SMEs in developing the skills needed to strengthen and build sustainable business communities.
Melissa Westcott, Local Buying Foundation Chair emphasised the importance of funding initiatives like the AICD Directors Course in regional areas: “Supporting this program aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to building thriving communities and a future-ready workforce. By equipping our local business leaders with essential governance and leadership skills, we are helping them grow their businesses and also strengthening the economic and social fabric of our communities. This course empowers SMEs to make informed decisions and create sustainable growth that benefits the entire region.”
