The Local Buying Foundation is proud to support initiatives that create long-term benefits for local businesses and communities. Our latest approved initiative, the Pilbara Clean Energy Education & Skills Development Initiative, aligns with our commitment to building sustainable and resilient regional economies.
As industries in the Pilbara work towards decarbonisation and renewable energy development, education and skills training will be essential to ensure local businesses and individuals can actively participate in this transition. The Pilbara Kimberley Universities Centre (PKUC) is leading this effort by launching an Intro to Hydrogen course in partnership with CQUniversity’s Centre for Hydrogen and Renewable Energy.
This half-day session will provide tradespeople, apprentices, and interested individuals with foundational knowledge on hydrogen as a fuel source and its applications. By investing in education, this initiative will empower the local workforce with the skills and knowledge needed to support the region’s clean energy future.
The Local Buying Foundation funds programs like this to foster innovation, sustainability and economic growth in BHP’s operational regions. By supporting projects that drive knowledge-sharing and skills development, we are ensuring that local businesses and communities are prepared for the opportunities of a low-carbon future.
