The WA Local Buying Foundation Advisory Committee and Trustees have approved funding to upgrade the Newman Community Business Hub, under the Micro-business and SME Capacity-building category. This project will run from January 1 to June 30, 2024, and aims to create flexible, practical workspaces for small businesses.
With this funding, the hub will improve its spaces by adding soundproofing, ergonomic furniture, and sit-stand desks, making it easier for local businesses to work productively. The upgrades will also include high-speed internet and extra monitors to help businesses stay digitally efficient.
Businesses using these shared workspaces will benefit from nearby childcare at the Newman Neighbourhood Centre and additional business support services at the Core Innovation Hub. These resources will give local entrepreneurs the knowledge and tools to grow their businesses.
The hub will also provide space for local businesses like hairdressers and beauticians, offering a fully equipped salon for lease. This will support these service providers and help fill gaps in local services, which are often hard to access due to the cost and scarcity of commercial space.
This project reflects the Local Buying Foundation’s focus on creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs to succeed. By providing a supportive environment, the Newman Community Business Hub will strengthen the business community and help small businesses thrive in Newman.
