In September, Business Port Pirie hosted its long-awaited Annual Dinner & Awards Night, marking a return to the event after several years. The Local Buying Foundation proudly sponsored the event, aligning with our commitment to showcasing local businesses that demonstrate leadership, social responsibility, and success across the community.
The Indigenous Business of the Year award, which was sponsored by the Local Buying Foundation was awarded to Let’s Wongan, a family-owned Indigenous business dedicated to sharing cultural knowledge with local schools and the broader community.
Local Buying Foundation Project Officer, Cody Girdwood, had the honour of presenting the award, standing alongside Business Port Pirie President Abby Zubrinich and Business Manager Aimee Squire – whose role is supported by Local Buying Foundation funding.
Reflecting on the night, Cody commented, “It was an absolute privilege to present this award to Let’s Wongan. Seeing their impact on the community and their dedication to keeping culture alive is truly inspiring. Events like these remind us how vital it is to support and celebrate our local businesses, who do so much to enrich the region.”

Funding Approved for Sponsorship of Business Port Pirie Awards 2024

In the first SA funding round for 2024, which closed in May, Business Port Pirie’s Annual Dinner & Awards Night has been approved for funding under the Sponsorship of Business Awards and Events funding category.
Scheduled for September 20, the eagerly awaited event marks the return of the awards after several years, celebrating and honouring the local business community’s achievements. The evening will feature several prestigious awards, including Indigenous Business of the Year – sponsored by the Local Buying Foundation, Medium to Large Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year, Family Business of the Year, and Growing Our Own.
LBF sponsorship of business awards and events underlines the commitment to fostering an environment where business can thrive and be acknowledged for their contributions across various sectors. The Awards promises to be a night of inspiration and celebration for the Port Pirie business community.
